I wasn't always living a happy and healthy life. Just around 5 years ago, I was dealing with my fair share of mystery health problems. Everything from digestive issues, stomach pains, skin rashes, acne, and anxiety. For someone who cared about health and nutrition and worked out daily, I couldn't understand why my body wasn't running at an optimal state. After numerous visits to the doctors, I was told that either nothing was wrong with me or I could take a pill to help with my symptoms. (No thanks!) Soon after, I made the decision to become proactive about my own health because nobody knows my body better than I do. This is when my passion for holistic health began. Today you can find me in a bikini or my yoga pants, sipping a green juice, (red wine on the weekends) relaxing on a beach in Maui. I'm probably dreaming of ways that I can inspire others to take control of their health so they can be living a life filled with happiness and purpose.
As soon as I became more aware of the things I put into my body, I learned that food is our best medicine. I began to pay attention to ingredients, read food labels and cut out the things that I thought were "healthy" but were really processed and filled with sugar and bad carbs. These types of foods were only causing inflammation and dis-ease within my body. I started experimenting more with cooking, (I'm actually not too bad at it) began eliminating gluten and switched to eating a predominately plant-based diet nourishing my body with nutrient-dense whole foods. I now believe every meal should be aimed towards eating all the colors of the rainbow. This was when my life changed and my body healed. I noticed a huge shift in my energy, my digestive issues cleared up, I lost weight and gained lean muscle without even going on a "diet" and felt more balanced all around. Discovering a holistic approach to wellness and looking at my body as a whole has been completely transformational. I have learned to make simple, yet sustainable lifestyle changes, leading me to the healthiest and happiest version of myself, and now my mission is to share what I've learned and to help you do the same.
The thing I'm most passionate about in life is helping people realize that they can feel healthy and happy in their bodies once and for all. If I can help you on your health journey to reaching your goals and creating real and lasting lifestyle changes, then I'll consider my job done. But when I'm not busy teaching or coaching you can probably find me on some crazy island adventure or volunteering at the Maui Humane Society and obsessing over ALL the puppies because I want to rescue them all one day.
I eat an entire avocado almost every single day. 1/2 in my morning smoothie, and the other half as a snack sprinkled with everything but the bagel seasoning and hot sauce. Local Hawaiian avocados are the best because they are deliciously creamy.
I LOVE to travel. Costa Rica was one of my favorites places to visit. I have been to 9 countries so far and have 15 more on my bucket list. Australia and Italy are at the top of that list and I'm hoping to visit them soon.
Sunset is my favorite color. You can pretty much find me at the beach every day at golden hour with my toes in the sand and a camera in my hand. It's the most magical way to end the day. No sunset is ever the same and you can never have too many sunset pictures.
I'm a HUGE book nerd. I am always reading at least 2 books at a time and it would be safe to say that I buy a new book almost every other week. Pretty certain that my amazon cart currently has at least 7 books in it. My future goal is to one day write a book of my own.
Every night before bed, I write in my journal the 5 things that I'm most grateful for that happened that day. It helps to clear my thoughts and makes me appreciate everything I have in my life. It's absolutely true that going to bed with a grateful heart gives you a more restful nights sleep.
